FAQ
Why is in-hand salary less than CTC ÷ 12?
CTC includes employer PF contributions, gratuity, insurance premiums and other benefits that never appear in your monthly credit — those are deducted from the annual figure before dividing.
What percentage of CTC is usually basic?
Most Indian companies set basic at 40–50% of CTC. A higher basic raises your PF contribution but can also raise gratuity and leave encashment later.
Is employer PF part of my salary?
Yes — the employer’s 12% goes into your EPF account, so it is deferred salary, not lost money.
